Smad Place ran well in the World Hurdle, where he stayed on late to nab Reve De Sivola for third on the line. The first two from that race re-oppose, but I think this horse may be able to reverse that form for various reasons. He hadn't run for a long time before Cheltenham so can be expected to come on for that run, and at six years old he's still young enough to be improving. He also shapes like more of a stayer than the two rivals that finished in front of him that day. Solwhit was a good winner at the festival, but there is a slight question mark over that race due to the slow early gallop. He is a top notch two mile horse and was always going to swamp everything for speed if they went too slow. The fact that former Champion Hurdle runner-up Celestial Halo was second to him backs this up. I don't see any reason why that one should reverse the form here. Good news for Solwhit fans is that he took the Aintree Hurdle on this day four years ago so won't have any problems with the track. I'm not saying he won't win, but he's worth opposing on value grounds considering that he's got questions to answer at 9/4, whereas Smad Place is 7/1.

Anyone recouped Cheltenham losses by backing same horse at Aintree? And if so, who?

I reckon there have been 89 races at the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals in the last two years. And I think N Henderson has won 24 of them.

What a feast of racing today at Aintree!
The main event to the general public is ,of course, the Grand National but the supporting races over the three days are top class with many Cheltenham winners attempting to take one more big prize before being scrubbed off for the summer.
I have to say, until they go 20-1 the field in the National,I will not be going out of my way to study the race in depth to try to find a winner! I can fancy the chances of a 12-1 shot in a low grade handicap at thirsk on the flat and to take those odds in a race such as the National where luck has so much of a part to play in wnning, well it goes completely against the grain! I also know that all the comprehensive analysis in the world would not have thrown up some of those big price winners we have seen over the years! Lets hope every horse and jockey comes back safely.
Today i am most excited about the Melling Chase. If you have read any of my comments Since Cheltenham you will know how i was all in on Cue Card there and everyone in my line of business who back horses for a living, will not be opposing Sprinter Sacre . I am not one of them! As much as a freak of nature this horse has so far proved,i think the reason to have a go against him is because in Cue Card , the Tizzard's have finally unlocked the potential the horse has always had. The way he is ridden in his races is key and that does not mean he has to be in front .If he ends up there with little effort then i am happy as he is a horse who goes through the gears gradually in his races.
No pro i know, will be backing Sprinter Sacre at those odds because even though he has to be short , there is the fact he is stepping up to Cue card's distance and in flemanstar , has another trip specialist to contend with.Of course he may win hard held but the 15-2 on offer for Cue Card is value we don't often get !
Can't find one to beat My Tent Or Yours but am trying to look for something to beat At Fishers Cross who is short enough.Different ground for a horse i think is ground dependant!
Lets hope for a cracking day and few hard luck stories! Keep away from them Chaotic Betting shops tomorrow, once a year punter alert!!!!!!!
Good Luck!

Grand National Weekend - this is one horse race I think should be banned. How can something possibly be sport when every year at least one horse dies. Would it still be such a big deal if a jockey died every year - NO it would be stopped, why can we not give the horses the same protection. I will not be watching this "race" nor interested in anything to do with it nor taking part in any sweep stakes or having a flutter. Maybe it just me but i think this event is barbaric and should be banned
