After all those years in the wilderness, the people of Israel are about to see God’s promise to them fulfilled. Joshua steps into the leader role, following Moses and it’s time to cross the Jordan River and take up residence in the land God brought their ancestor Abraham to at the beginning of their family story. Getting established in the territory after a 400 year absence is going to take a lot of faithful first steps and full reliance on God.

Read: If you don’t have a copy of The Story, you can read along in your own Bible. This week, read Joshua 1-2, 6, 8, 10-11, 23-24. When you get to the story of Jericho’s walls, take a moment to close your eyes and run the “movie” in your head. Listen to the sounds and the voices…huddle with Rahab’s family in the dust of crumbling walls.
