I have witnessed an alarming increase in the last few weeks in the number of people looking for advice on what to do as they have fallen into mortgage distress with 9 separate queries today. It is heartbreaking to see so many people struggling and at their wits end about how they will make ends meet. Of todays 9, two families got letters from their banks advising them to sell their homes. Others have asked to be considered for the mortgage to rent scheme but were refused. The simple problem is that the banks have a veto and are not playing ball. We are now told that family home repressions will increase and is now official Government policy. The Government need to reverse this, change policy, remove the bank veto and take charge.

BANKS TO SWITCH TO NEW TECHNOLOGY ATM CARDS
The expected migration from the magnetic strip ATM cards to the chip enabled technology is going to help curb fraud in the banking industry.
The central bank of Kenya in association with the Kenya Bankers Association has come up with a detailed plan to enable all the commercial banks switch to Visa (EMV) Chip, Euro-pay, PIN and MasterCard technology. This is expected to implemented by the end of September 2013.
The high level of fraud and theft in the magnetic strip cards has discouraged many
customers from using plastic money. According to the KBA Chief Executive officer Habil Olaka, ATM s are seen as the most convenient way of accessing money by bank customers hence the need to protect them.
According to the CBK there are over 10.7 million ATM s both debit and credit cards in circulation by end of the year 2012 which is a 6% increase over the previous year.
ATM transactions amounted to Kshs 156 891 million in 2012 an increase from 2011's Kshs 140825 million.
Although data concerning fraud remains unavailable from banks due to fear of reaction from customers its estimated to be huge sums of money.

I have a question. Are the American people dumb enough to fall for the latest BS coming out of the white house? B.O 's budget comes out next Wednesday. He's cutting social security and Medicare. Then saying it's because those evil republicans will not give him a tax increase. Obama care took 700 million out of medicare and lowered the payments to doctors but the sequester is somehow the reason cancer patients are being turned away.(the sequester that B.O said would NEVER happen) Unbelievable!
People the federal government is collecting more money from its citizens than at any time on our countrys history. ( at a time when less people are working versus the overall population since the great depression ) Yet the government is spending nearly two TRILLION DOLLARS more than it takes in yearly. Who out there thinks this can go on forever?
When you watch CNN,ABC,CBS.NBC, ect and the talking heads blame the republicans for everything from erectile dysfunction to global warming, do you believe them? I do not see this ending well. The government can only push those paying the freight so far before they revolt.
