Stretching Before Exercising Provides Only Flexibility
Whenever I see someone stretching before running,
cycling, tennis, swimming, or any other sport, I worry that
the person doesn't know much about training.
STRETCHING BFORE EXERCISING WEAKENS MUSCLES: Two
recent studies show that stretching before competition and
training weakens muscles. Stretching prevents you from lifting
your heaviest weights or running your fastest miles. It limits
how high you can jump, and how fast you can run The Journal of
Strength and Conditioning Research. April, 2013; The Scandinavian
Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports, April, 2013).
Stretching weakens muscles by almost 5.5 percent.
The longer you hold the stretch, the more strength you lose.
Holding a stretch for more than 90 seconds markedly reduces
strength in that muscle.
Stretching reduces power: how hard you can hit a
baseball or tennis ball, how fast you can swim, run or pedal,
Stretching also does not prevent next-day muscle soreness, and it
does not prevent injuries. On the other hand, warming up helps
to prevent injuries and helps you to run faster and lift heavier.

Creating an Atmosphere of Spiritual Worship

Jesus commanded us to worship God in the Spirit and not in our own human effort. Jesus said, "God is a Spirit, those who worship him must worship him in Spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). Jesus made this statement when he was talking to the woman at the well. He also added in that conversation that the spiritual worship of God did not have to be in the temple alone, or on top of the mountain or in a particular physical location. Jesus explained that God was everywhere. This was hard for the religious leaders of the time and it is still hard for some Christians today who do not understand the scriptures and the essence of spiritual worship. Many church services are very big on ceremony and traditional rituals, and very short on spiritual worship.

What is an Atmosphere of Spiritual Worship?

Worshiping God is not about dancing, preaching, praying or even reading the Word of God. All those activities just mentioned can lead us into the worship realm. However, these rituals by themselves are not worship.

In the Church today, we go through a list of programs as Sunday rituals. Once the list is completed, we assume that we have worshipped God. We assume that we’ve had “church.” What is the difference in going to an opera, a concert, a movie theater, or a ball game? None! There is no difference because those four activities are based on entertainment. Some people attend church services on Sunday as spectators. Why? Some preachers made the congregation to believe that everything in the church leads to the preaching of the Word of God. And this is a huge problem today! This is especially a problem because of the theatrical demonstration during the services which can often be confused with spiritual worship. Such process tends to ignite human emotions instead of leading people to a spiritual worship. After all the emotional excitements in the service, people go home and feel empty because they've failed to connect with the Spirit of God during the Sunday service.

True worship of God happens in an atmosphere we create with the help of the Holy Ghost that is conducive to the opening of the Portals of Heaven. Spiritual worship is the "product" of learning to walk in the Spirit of God. Without walking in the Spirit, creating an atmosphere of spiritual worship is very difficult if not impossible. An atmosphere of spiritual worship allows the "Shikinah Glory" of God to manifest in the midst of the people. This atmosphere can happen anywhere, and not in church buildings alone.

What happens when we are in His presence?

In the presence of such atmosphere we learn to ride the waves of the serenity, love, peace, and joy as the product (fruit) of the Spirit of God. If the objective to usher in the presence of God through worship is blurred, then it is better not to worship. The level of praying and asking God for things don’t have anything to do with the level of the waves of God’s Glory. The level of worship is a level subsequent to the holiness of God. God is Holy! When we worship, we recognize God’s holiness. When the presence of the Lord falls, that is when the King enters. Christ enters. At this level, the cloud falls down and only God is speaking. "Let ALL flesh be silent in his presence" (Habakkuk 2:20). This scripture doesn't mean that we should worship with our mouths closed. It means that we should silence the voices and be alert to only one voice. It means everything we do in His presence (dancing, music, singing, prayer, preaching, etc.) should lead to one thing- the DEMONSTRATION of His Power! At this critical moment, once we surrender our will to God the human soul enjoys the spiritual communion that takes place between God and man. In the presence of God we experience spiritual communion. We experience a spiritual ascension, temporarily being detached from the physical world and stepping into supernatural dimensions of faith.
