I think we have enough rain now. I need some sun again. I managed to get a lot of paperwork done yesterday since there was no temptation to be in the rain. I did weekly, monthly and quarterly tax reports yesterday. I had plenty of irritation for my diligence in dealing with things I don't relish doing. To start with: I nearly popped my cork because I paid the fed. payroll tax online and reported it as for the 2nd quarter of the year, which started this week, but the payroll was for the last wk. of the first quarter. Went to cancel the payment so I could redo it and it wouldn't let me cancel it because I made the date to withdraw the money for the next day. It had to be more than 1 day away. I couldn't even make a correction for the quarter. I called the IRS line and was told I had to call a certain phone no. in 10 days to get it straight. How crazy does that seem. The customer service person gave me an e-mail address to send my complaint to. I did send it and will probably never hear back. I decided to just wait until they send me a notice that I didn't pay enough money for the first quarter and then I will tell them the deal on their notice when I mail it in.
More aggravation: I also took time to call Valero gas credit card to see about doing online payments as they are charging $15 a mo. - yes that is right - for me to get a hard copy. I don't like doing onlin paying, but that adds up to $180 a yr. just to get a hardcopy invoice. They told me my husband would have to call to get that info since my name isn't on the account. Blood pressure went up again. If you can tell the account number, the past amounts paid, etc. etc., you must be the one dealing with the payments. Grumbled a few times about that to two different customer service people during my phone call and then when husband got home to please their requirement to have him call. I wanted my name on the account and turns out, husband has to send a letter to that effect - e-mail won't work either. I sent an e-mail to that company as well after all the conversation with them. This morning I got a call from a Valero person who told me how I could go ahead and get the set up for getting the e-mail invoice and how to get on as an authorized person through their website. I asked why no one could do that yesterday and she said they normally don't let someone do it that way, but she saw the notes on our file about our calls - and probably saw my e-mail - and was giving me the info on the phone. WOW, for once, my protests bring me a reward!! Well, but here is the catch. I was just waking up, the cordless phone was dead, can't stretch the hardline to the computer in another room, so I was trying to scribble notes while not totally at attention. I didn't make good enough notes for the part about getting my name on the account and couldn't figure it out by looking around on the website page. She said she would check back with me, but didn't. At least I got the most important issue taken care of to not get hard copies that cost us.
